Let's Ask the Storyteller -- Alex Miller

"Let's Ask the Storyteller" is a new feature, whereby I ask listeners of my radio show The Teller and the Tale to send me questions to ask of my storytelling guests.

Storyteller Alex Miller
Alex Miller is a young storyteller from Aberdeen. He works in schools teaching music and singing to children. He's also involved in projects outside schools which enable young people to experience singing in choirs.

The Questions:

1. Who or what called you to storytelling?
"A fabulous course at Emerson College called 'Turning Straw into Gold' with Marianna deCroes, focusing on the therapeutic and educational benefits of storytelling for children. The whole holistic experience of this course lit a belief within me that I had stories worth sharing as well as having the inner confidence to be able to help others connect with their inner story."

2. What was the last story you told or performed?
"An interactive children's story about train journeys called 'Coffee, Coffee'."

3. Who's your favourite storyteller?
"My good friend, John Wilson, who has a wonderful way with words, speaks with such passion and insight, and is fascinated by the power of rituals and indigenous pathways into story."
